I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Orthodontic treatment does far more than simply straighten teeth. Interceptive orthodontic treatment, in particular, can literally be life-changing. The time to correct misaligned teeth, jaw shape and facial structure is while the body is still developing. When these are addressed early on, you can save your child from years of discomfort, impaired chewing or speaking, and low self-esteem. Not convinced? When you learn the story of my patient, AJ, you’ll be a believer.I am very pleased with the hard work, care, and concern from Dr. Ruth Roach Morgan and her staff. Job well done!
My son had orthodontic work here where he wore an appliance for a year or so and then went into full braces. My son had a serious underbite when they first started of which Dr. Ruth Roach Morgan and Amy, her ortho assistant, worked very diligently in correcting my son’s underbite. Well, I am very happy to say that he just had his braces removed yesterday, and his teeth look great!! No more underbite!! I am very pleased with the hard work, care, and concern from Dr. Ruth Roach Morgan and her staff. Job well done!
AJ had micrognathia on the maxilla, which simply means that his top teeth were locked behind his bottom teeth. Because of this, his top jaw didn’t develop and his upper canines had nowhere to erupt. Without treatment, AJ would have either required corrective surgery or simply live with a face that made him look different from everyone else. And while we value individuality, blending in is also important, particularly to an 11-year-old boy.
Without appliance therapy and braces, AJ’s face would have a caved-in appearance. He would also have impaired chewing ability. What’s worse, though, is that his looks could make him feel isolated from his peers, uncomfortable interacting with others, and have had low self-confidence. Luckily, AJ’s mom took action and her son is not only handsome, but he is also confident, happy, and engaging.
If you have any reason to believe that your child’s teeth, jaw, or face aren’t developing properly, don’t sit back and wait for it to self-correct. Addressing these problems with interceptive orthodontics can prevent your child from suffering later in life. Whether you’re an 11-year-old boy or a full-grown adult, orthodontic treatment can change your look and how you feel about yourself. If you or your child are ready for a transformative treatment, contact my office to schedule a consultation.
Fondly,
Dr. Ruth Roach Morgan
